A Cool Praise, A Big Challenge

I just opened my mail for the week and I found a magazine from my denomination with a listing of numbers of baptisms for churches in our state. I was blown away to discover our church was in the top eleven churches in our state when it came to baptizing people. That discovery led me to several thoughts.

First, I'm thankful and grateful that our church has been used to help people come to faith in Christ and follow Him in baptism. May God receive the glory in that praise!

Secondly, I'm challenged by the fact that as a whole baptisms in our denomination are down. Didn't Jesus say, "Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them..."? Somehow we have to regain our focus on what is really important. Every church I know is busy. The question is, are we busy about the right things?

My prayer is that every church has an increase in baptisms. I pray that we increase baptisms so we can increase disciples. Let's get busy reaching "all nations".

Ken,

Miss seeing you. I'm in Israel now and wishing you could be here with me. Just had a day with a Rabbi teaching us about how the Rabbi's in the days of Jesus viewed discipling. Was a very interesting presentation.

Great to read your blog and see what God is doing! Keep up the great work...

I love each sermon I have heard (I've been attending for about 2 months) - I especially enjoy the manner in which you deliver them! I think you have a life member out of me (as soon as I catch up with your membership people-my fault, not theirs)!

A few other things I like about Crossroads... Variety, big church-without the mentality, podcasts (a reminder of that weeks lesson) and now this!

Keep up the great work!

It's been awesome to be apart of Crossroads the last what, 17 years my family has been attending! Now that I am in Missouri, our new home, I am having to do the searching for myself... I just hope that I am able to find a church that is on the right path as Crossroads surely is! It sure is hard not to "compare" other churches to Crossroads... I have been blessed to meet so many wonderful people who were there throughout the ups and downs in my life over the last decade plus. God surely is at work in and through the individuals of this church and community and I only hope to see and hear more of it!!! Thanks Ken and Val for being a tool to be used by God!
